Cracking good firework events planned for Wharfedale

Fireworks will be trailing a blaze aross the darkened Yorkshire skies this autumn in celebration of Guy Fawkes Night.

The Riverside Hotel in Ilkley will be holding it’s FREE annual bonfire on Monday November 5 around tea-time. Hot food and drinks will be served.

On Friday, November 2, Ilkley Tennis Club will be celebrating with hot food until 9pm and a late bar. This event is FREE and starts at 6pm (fireworks 6.30pm).

A cracking night of fun is to be served up at The Devonshire Arms at Bolton Abbey on Monday, November 5. There will be fireworks, a bonfire, hot snacks, refreshments, free car parking, free shuttle bus, a bar and entertainment.

Tickets cost £5 each for children and adults. Of that, £1 will be donated to the Duchess of Devonshire’s chosen charity, the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust.

Please note that any tickets purchased on the gate will be charged at £6.00 each for Children & Adults.

Gates open at: 5.30pm

Bonfire lit at: 6.30-7.00pm

Fireworks at: 7.30pm

On Saturday November 3, there will be the annual Scout and Guide Group’s bonfire in Burley-in-Wharfedale.

The event once again takes place on the area of land outside the Scout Hut on Peel Place and all are welcome.

The event starts at 6pm with live music provided by local bands “The Big Picture” and “Panama Jack and the Muffin Makers”.

The bonfire will be lit at 7pm and fireworks from 7.30pm. Food will be available from the outside barbecue, plus inside the hut; jacket potatoes, biscuits, buns, toffee and chocolate apples will be on sale.

There will be a selection of drinks for sale including tea, coffee, beer, wine, lager and soft drinks. Donation buckets will be on hand – please give generously.

The proceeds cover the cost of the event and any additional money goes toward the running of the various sections within the Scout & Guide Group in the village.

There will also be a bonfire at Addingham Cricket Club on Friday, November 9. Details yet to be confirmed.
